Uniquely Unlocked

I am so grateful for my wife and all that she does. I wish I could be out there helping her right by her side. I love and appreciate her with all my heart. She truly is a blessing.

I had such a sheltered and spoiled background. I breezed through my childhood so fast that it’s hard to remember it. I wanted so badly to grow up and be an adult, a wife, and a mother.

I had a pretty awesome upbringing with loving parents, a big wholesome family, a kind religious community, and I was even a Girl Scout. But is it possible that sometimes things can be too perfect that you miss out on living and experiencing?

I have Stone City Blog on my mind right now. It is a collection of blogs written by men in prison, which I manage. Honestly, I’ve struggled with putting in all those hours helping men who couldn’t give me much in return.

I help men in prison share their voice with the world. At first, I choked on my own voice when telling people this. It wasn’t something I wanted to brag…

I will always remember the exact moment I read this very letter. A flood of tender love & emotion ran through me and instantly healed my heart from hurtful words. I truly felt what it is like to forgive quickly and to forget all previous painful conversations. It was as though this letter hit the “refresh” button for my mind and heart.

It’s hard to explain, but I instantly felt safe. Such a huge burden was lifted off of my shoulders in a single second, and replaced with pure wholesomeness & comfort. I completely love my husband and how he snuggles so perfectly into my heart and soul.  ❤

Hello My Sweet Ladylove,

I love you…I miss you.

Early on in our relationship I said some things according to how I felt at that time. I said some things that formed in my mind as a result of being single, alone, and in prison…

Suzie Comes To Visit

9-2015 (3)

She defecates in the wilderness then wipes with stinging nettles.

She eats things that would make a billy-goat puke.

She has learned to ignore cold temperatures, frost bite, and pain…for she IS Suzie Marie Jennings!

Okay okay, perhaps the above is a slight exaggeration. But I have to acknowledge the relentless dedication and determination of my wife.

It’s been six long months since we’ve seen one another. She lives in California. I live in Washington. She is unemployed, and I only earn $0.42 an hour. Money keeps us apart.

But my baby found a way! She saved all of her pennies, then surprised me with a four day visit!

She rented a small “gas friendly” car and drove 14 hours to SCCC. She ate granola, fruit, and little snacks that she brought from home. Her budget was too tight to buy any meals. She had just enough money to rent a car, pay for gas, and put a little money on our visiting room debit card so that we could eat together.

Talk about COMMITMENT!!!

As our first day was coming to an end, I asked her, “Baby, where are you going after our visit is over?”

She casually shrugged her shoulders and said, “I don’t know.”

I unexpectedly grabbed her face and kissed her lips three times. Her beautiful green eyes lit up as I let go. I then asked, “Is it okay if I randomly surprise you with quick aggressive kisses?”

“Yes!” she said emphatically as she sat up and scooted a little closer.

Kissing isn’t allowed in the visiting room, so I scanned the room for authoritive eyes. The coast was clear. I quickly grabbed her head with both hands and gave her a nice and firm, but soft, passionate, tongue-less, wet kiss that lasted seven magical seconds!

“Oh my” She whispered through a growing smile.

Her innocent mannerism and sweet soft voice is too much! I kiss her again. Just because.

Then I ask, “Where will you sleep tonight?”

“In the car” she answered.

I can’t believe it. My sweet lady is a trooper! Forget a hotel and hot meals…she just wanted to see me!

Her plan was to stay for just two days. But we had such a lovely time together that she extended her stay for two more days! Those two extra days cut into her budget. Now she didn’t have enough gas money to get home.

When I asked her about this dilemma, she simply said, “I’ll cross that bridge when I’m driving home…right now, I’m with YOU and that’s all that matters!”

Aww…how sweet.

9-2015 (2)20

This woman really does love me with all her heart. And I love her right back with all my heart!

I still can’t believe that my amazing wife slept in her car five days in a row. Boy oh boy was I sneaking her lots of hugs and kisses during our visits. 🙂

We may be broke right now, but one thing is for sure…we are rich in love!

I dedicate this song to my wife: Amazed, by LoneStar

Thank you baby, for your love and sacrifice. I really do appreciate all you did so that we could spend quality time together.

Love Is An Action

I absolutely love my wife’s most recent post about how love is an ACTION. Suzie is an INCREDIBLE woman! I am so blessed to have her as my wife.

Through experience, I am learning that love grows when it is expressed and put into action.

I’ve been doing a lot of research about love. And I am able to take something valuable from everything I read on this beautiful and fascinating subject. There are all sorts of opinions, theories, and point-of-views out there about love. As it turns out, people have been trying to define what it is for centuries.

Sometimes we should just go back to basic simplicity:

“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” (1 John 3:18 NLT)

Honestly, I was having a difficult time finding my role. Being the wife to a man in prison, I am unable to show my love in conventional ways like: cooking him meals, washing his clothes, rubbing his shoulders after a long day at work, calling him on the phone, maintaining a…

A Letter To My Wife’s Family

thCAK5GVJF

Who would want their daughter, sister, aunt, or any family member to get involved with a man in prison? Not me! I could only imagine. But this is the situation for Suzie’s family. She’s involved with me. We’re in love. We’re married.

Here is a letter that I wrote to her family:

Dear Suzie’s Family,

Um…Hi. I’m a little nervous, so please bare with me. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I sincerely hope you do so with an open mind.

What is love?
What does it mean to truly love someone?
What is the ultimate goal in life?

To me, these answers are quite simple. The ultimate goal is to be happy. To truly love someone means to treat them with respect and compassion at all times. Love is kind, gentle, and understanding.

I love Suzie. She is so sweet, kind, and compassionate. I recognize all her unique personal characteristics, and I absolutely love who she is as a person.

I promise all of you that I will always treat Suzie with love and respect. All I want to do is bring her happiness and joy.

Suzie & I confide in each other. Our love is open and honest without the fear of ridicule or harsh judgment. We have a strong foundation of trust and honesty that has allowed our relationship to grow into something very special. I’ve never known anything like this before. But now that I’ve experienced this, I want it forever.

Forever is a long time. That means peeks and valleys are on the horizon. When dilemma’s and conflicts appear, I promise to seek peaceful solutions that won’t upset the harmony of our relationship. In doing so, these type of situations that usually breaks others down, will only strengthen us.

Suzie inspires me in so many ways. She inspires me to keep on the righteous path and to work hard towards my goals. She inspires me to dream of a life full of love, joy, and happiness. And now she has given me the opportunity to achieve all my dreams.

I promise to do the same for her. Through love, support, and understanding, I will inspire my lovely lady to be the best she can be and to reach her full potential. I will encourage her every step of the way as she works towards her goals. Suzie has dreams and desires. Together, we will fulfill them.

Suzie has a lifelong partner in me. My incarceration has enabled me to view life through a different lens. I appreciate my blessings. I cherish my friends and family. And I absolutely worship my lady. I promise to do everything within my power to make Suzie happy and to maintain this strong circle of harmony that surrounds our relationship.

Suzie is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. She inspires me to be the best thing that’s ever happened to her. She is an amazing woman who I love with all my heart. She deserves so much better than a man in prison. That’s one of the many reasons why I am so committed to giving her a very special kind of love. The kind of love she deserves, the kind of love she desires and longs for. A love that only knows peace & harmony.

Please give me and my love for Suzie a chance. Please see me for who I am, not where I am. I know you have questions. Feel free to ask anything. I’ll always respond with a honest answer.

In closing, I’d like to point out that I could’ve wrote anything on these pages. And that wouldn’t necessarily make it true. People can say anything. So please just view this letter as an outline of what to expect from me. The tangible truth will be found within my actions, and by the way I will always treat Suzie.

Sincerely,
Steven Jennings

My Shining Star

I love my beautiful wife and the way she articulates our love.

I’ve heard many people refer to their spouses as their “rock.” It sounded good to me, so for a while I called my husband my rock, too.

But was I just copy-catting that phrase without truly knowing what it meant to me?

I know what my husband means to me. And when I think of him, he is sooo much more than a rock. So I found a more fitting metaphor that resonates with our love…

He is my shining star!

And I am his shining star, too.

Wikipedia says:

“…Binary and multi-star systems consist of two stars that are gravitationally bound, and generally move around each other in stable orbits. When two stars have a relatively close orbit, their gravitational interaction can have a significant impact on their evolution. Stars, especially when more distant, often appear to the unaided eye as a single point of light, and are then…

Thank you Suzie for everything, the big
things and the small.
You bless my life in many ways
I appreciate them all.

Thank you baby oh so much, I give to
you my praise.
You’ve changed my life, you’ve given me hope
You’ve brought love to all my days.

As stars appear I say my prayer
and give thanks for you my dear.
Then close my eyes and fantasize
of the days I’ll have you near.

I reach for you, you hear my cries
in times of sudden need.
You take my hand, you soothe my soul
with thoughtful kindly deeds.

I’m so aware of your daily grace,
with you it’s no surprise.
I see your heart, I see your love
when I look into your eyes.

Thank you baby for the miracles
that I so clearly see.
I love you now, I’ll love you then,
I’ll love you for eternity.

My wife’s amazing love and support loads my heart with love, joy, and happiness. When I share my heart, these are the type of expressions you’ll find.

Mwah! A kiss for my wife.

I Love My Lady

Everybody desires that romantic notion of love. For years I fantasized about it. I was amongst demons, yet I dreamt of angels.

Back then I had no desire or focus. One traumatic situation changed that. (read Chapter 19 of Stone City: Life In The Penitentiary)

Today I am a man of great focus, desire, and dreams. I dreamt of a woman. I desired a woman. I focused on finding a woman. (read blog: How I Found Love From Within Prison)

And WOW did I succeed! OMG!!! My woman is amazing.

She loves me with all her heart, body, and soul. She is 100% committed to me with every fiber of her being. Just look at all these letters she sends me. Look at what they say.

My First Visit With Suzie

thCA1MXB3N

Suzie and I have been writing each other for 9 months. I have 147 letters from her. I absolutely love this woman! (For more on how we met, please read my blog: How I Found Love From Within Prison.)

After 9 months of letters, emails, and a few phone calls, she decided it was time that we met face to face. So she rented a car and drove 800 miles to Aberdeen, WA. It was only 20 minutes prior to our 1st visit that I became aware of her trip. I could not believe that I was about to meet her in person. My weekend just got a whole lot better. All these months of writing…and she was HERE!

As I walked into the visiting room, she gracefully stood up. I gave her a big, long hug & kissed her soft lips. We both couldn’t stop smiling. For the next 3 days we got to know each other on a deep personal level. We talked about family, love, relationships, marriage, and our plans for the future. We played games, held hands, snuck kisses, and spent hours enjoying each others company. I asked her if she really wanted to marry me. She said yes. I explained to her all the challenges that exist within these type of relationships, then I asked her again. She said yes.

CIMG5527

I am so impressed with this woman. She is smart, beautiful, sincere, and so kind hearted. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. Her sweet demeanor melts my heart. Her soft voice soothes my soul. Looking into her beautiful eyes gives me butterflies. I really found someone I can love forever.

After 3 days of 8 hour visits, it was time for her to head back to CA. I missed her the instant she left my side. After she was gone, I felt like a puppy after its owner has left for the day. Inside I was weeping.

The next day, I called her to make sure she got home safely. That’s when she told me that she was still in Aberdeen, and that she extended her stay to visit me for another full weekend. I couldn’t believe it! I was so excited! My tail was wagg’n. I absolutely love how much Suzie loves me.

I spent those next visits lost in her emerald green eyes, kissing her hands, and expressing my love towards her. It’s incredible all of the feelings that she makes me feel. I am so happy, and I am so lucky that we have found one another.

CIMG5555

Suzie is my reward for being such a good boy and for being so patient. I will always cherish her and treat her with nothing but love & respect. She is my precious gem and I will forever treasure her.

I can’t wait to see her again. I can’t wait to marry her and to have our special EFV’s together. I can’t wait to show her just how much I love her…all night long…for 48 hours straight!

I love you Baby! You are the love of my life.
